Ledger & Line is a design and development business based in Toronto, Ontario. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

This website does not have forms, accounts, analytics or advertising, and we do not set our own cookies. The personal information we collect is limited to what you choose to send us, usually by email:

• your name, email address, and any contact details you include
• details about your business and project that you share with us

Like any website, our hosting provider automatically processes basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use it to identify or profile visitors.

How we use it

• to reply to your enquiry and discuss your project
• to prepare proposals, deliver work and send invoices if you become a client
• to keep business and tax records as required by law

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we will not add you to a mailing list without your consent.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the business. They process information on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service:

• Google Workspace, for email, calendar and document storage
• Cloudflare, for website hosting and security

These providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We may also disclose information if required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful for the enquiry or project. Client and financial records are kept for as long as Canadian tax law requires, generally six years. After that, we delete information we no longer need.

How we protect it

We use reputable providers, encrypted connections, two-step verification on our accounts and limited access to information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent and ask us to delete it, subject to any records we are legally required to keep. To make a request, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

If you have a concern we have not resolved, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes to this policy

If we add new features to this website, such as a contact form or analytics, we will update this policy and the date above.
